Our Cattle

We have been breeding Highlanders on our small farm South of Bathurst for over a decade. We started with 3 beautiful cows, Nessie, Haggis and Guiness - and a cheeky little bull called "Little Ming".

Over time we have carefully bought in exceptional quality females from Oberon, Port Macquarie, Bright, Moss Vale, Jindabyne and Captains Flat. These purchases have ensured strong genetic diversity, eliminated the potential for inbreeding (which can be quite prevalent in rare breeds), and given us a wonderful spread of colors, horns, conformations and hairy coats.

We have regularly had independent Veterinary guidance to ensure biosecurity and the general health of our herd.

Quality of Northwood Highland Cattle

At Northwood Highland Cattle, we take pride in the quality of our highland cattle.

Each of our Highlanders are of the highest standard, with beautiful colours, vigorous health, and friendly temperaments.

Our cattle are DNA tested to ensure their quality and authenticity. Significantly, there are several undesirable genetic influences endemic to Australia Highland Herds.

We have screened for these genetic markers and can offer laboratory guarantees that Northwood Highlands DO NOT carry these genetic markers.

What We Offer

We offer a wide variety of registered, registration "lodged and pending", DNA tested, and commercial grade highland cattle for sale, including calves, yearlings, breeding females, and bulls of all ages.

Whether you are looking for a starting point to nurture your own herd of Highlands, a new hairy best friend, or for a new addition to your herd - we have some options for you!

Availability of Northwood Highland Cattle

As of August 2025, we will be offering a selection of our cattle in feature auctions - these will be conducted through Nutrien Livestock ...... so you are guaranteed that our transactions are 100% legitimate (We are highly aware of the never-ending scamming that occurs in the Highland cattle trade .. especially when using on-line platforms).

The auctions will be conducted using the Auctions Plus website, and will be complimented with an "Open Weekend" - where potential purchasers will be welcomed "on farm" to meet and inspect our cattle, and ask questions prior to bidding.
